Frequently Asked Questions
To connect to the institute VPN, follow these steps:
1. Open your network settings
2. Click on "VPN" and then "Add VPN Connection"
3. Enter the server information provided by IT
4. Use your institute username and password to authenticate
If you encounter issues, contact the IT helpdesk.
Slow internet connections can be caused by several factors:
- Too many devices connected to the network
- Large file downloads happening in the background
- Distance from the router
- Network congestion
Try restarting your router and closing unnecessary applications. If the problem persists, contact IT support.
If you suspect an email is a phishing attempt:
1. Do not click any links or download attachments
2. Forward the email to helpdesk@kti.edu.iq
3. Delete the email from your inbox
4. If you clicked on a link, change your password immediately and contact IT
Remember to always check the sender's email address and look for spelling errors.
institute policy requires password changes every 90 days. Your new password should:
- Be at least 12 characters long
- Include uppercase and lowercase letters
- Include numbers and special characters
- Not be a password you've used before
- Not contain easily guessable information like your name or birthdate
To request new equipment:
1. Submit a ticket through the IT portal
2. Select "Equipment Request"
3. Specify the type of equipment needed and the reason
4. Your manager will need to approve the request
5. IT will process the request within 1-2 business days after approval
Try these steps to improve laptop performance:
1. Restart your computer
2. Close unused applications and browser tabs
3. Check for and install updates
4. Clear temporary files
5. Run a virus scan
If the issue continues, contact IT support for further assistance.
Licensed software can be installed through the institute Software Portal:
1. Open the Software Portal from your applications
2. Browse or search for the software you need
3. Click "Install" next to the application
4. The installation will begin automatically
If you don't see the software you need, submit a request to IT.
All employees have access to Microsoft Office 365. You can:
1. Use online versions at office.com
2. Install desktop applications through the Software Portal
3. Use mobile apps on your phone or tablet
